Project Woo

After leaving Vail and semi-regular photo and video work for Nicaragua and surfing I have started to miss working a bit. Days are short with only 12 hours of real daylight. Schedules tend to run around high tide which changes from day to day by one hour. Today high tide was at 2:30 PM and 2 AM so tomorrow it will be one hour later. I have shot a lot of photos while here but work has been slim. So I was really stoked when I was asked to take some photos for Project WOO,. They are a non-profit who’s main concern and mission is “Project Wave of Optimism firmly believes that international surf travel has a profound impact upon the local populations of Latin American surf destinations.” What they do is “Project WOO commits to work in the area of critical overlap between surf tourism presence and host community efforts to improve their quality of life. ”

It is an awesome group of dedicated and caring people who have had a real impact on the lives of Liz and myself. While I was asked to shoot photos of ladies in the waves and a collaborative effort between WOO and Shoulder to Shoulder, Liz was asked to help teach surfing at both camps.

It was great for both of us to get to help out in this small community.  Please check out Project Wave of Optimism and decide for yourself if you would like to help them make a difference.

Cheers
