Nicaragua and Surfing

The face of international travel.

The face of international travel.

Traveling internationally… is hard. Really just the actual getting there and getting back. I spent many hours more than seemed necessary on some pretty rowdy (turbulent) flights so that I could fly from Denver to LA, LA to Houston and the Houston to Managua. From Managua myself and Liz were set up with a shuttle driver named Alex who drove us the other two hours to Playa Gigante.

Woo. It was really nice to get here and get setup. We have a house that we rented through friends of friends that is a 10 minute or so walk to Playa Amarillo. Amarillo is a beach break that is just the right speed for someone like myself. It gets plenty big and scary but it also gets some smaller slower stuff. So a good range of surfing for Liz and I.

I am not just here to surf though. I am here to learn and practice the fine art of surf photography. It truly is an art. Catching that perfect moment when someone is at their peak, the wave is just right or just after during a mini-meltdown.  Here are some shots of the trip so far.
